Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a channel ID and a handle?
A channel ID is the unique UCxxxxxxxx... identifier assigned by YouTube. A handle is the custom @username that channel owners choose. Both can be used to link to a channel.
Can I find the full UC… ID from a @handle URL?
Not directly from the URL alone — handles are display names, not technical IDs. To find the UC… ID from a handle, open the channel page, right-click, View Page Source, and search for "channelId".
Why would I need a channel ID?
Channel IDs are used in YouTube API calls, RSS feeds (youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UC…), and some third-party analytics tools.
